Turbine blades see many millions of turns over their lifetime and degradation due to lighting, erosion and fatigue is a certainty. Broadwind Services offers a comprehensive range of blade capabilities to support turbine owners seeking optimum long term blade performance.
Long blade life is enabled by a periodic inspection regime performed by skilled technicians. Broadwind Services technicians perform a yearly visual inspection of blades from the ground, using their years of repair experience to highlight areas for in-air basket and blade-internal follow up. Inspection reports for clients then recommend a repair program that can head off damage before more expensive repairs are needed or even catastrophic failure can occur.

Inspection reports identify the following potential problems along with recommended corrective actions:
• Lightning receptor damage or compromised functionality
• Surface, joint or root area cracking
• Leading edge and trailing edge erosion
• Moisture incursion
• Lightning damage to tips

The Broadwind Services blade technicians have decades of experience in OEM factories and with field repairs. We stock materials and have trained technician able to execute to following repairs:
• Lightning receptor and lightning damage repair
• Leading edge erosion repair and protection
• Rebalancing
• Full rotor swaps, inclusive of crane service and transportation

We also have experience with diagnosing and mitigating serial defect issues in blades and have supported OEMs with programs requiring large climate-controlled remediation facilities and extensive field blade logistics.
